Charlotte is having one of the biggest weeks in sports. Panthers training camp is underway, the Hornets enter a new era, and Charlotte FC helps bring MLS All-Star Week to the Queen City. Here's everything Charlotte fans need to know.
Carolina Panthers (NFL)
Training camp opened July 22 in Charlotte, and it's already been eventful. Left tackle Ikem Ekwonu started camp on the physically unable to perform list as he recovers from a knee injury, and right tackle Taylor Moton was placed on the non-football injury list this week due to a blood clot in his lung, according to ESPN. Edge rusher Nic Scourton was carted off practice with a right knee injury. On a brighter note, Carolina brought in Jaelan Phillips this offseason to jolt a pass rush that finished third-worst in the league in sacks last year.

Charlotte Hornets (NBA)
The Hornets bet big this summer, trading LaMelo Ball and Josh Green to Minnesota for Naz Reid and a haul of first-round picks and swaps. Coby White signed a three-year, $74 million deal to take over as starting point guard, telling reporters he's approaching the new role by "just being myself." Coach Charles Lee called moving on from Ball "hard," but the front office frames the return — plus Reid's frontcourt help — as worth it for Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel's development. Summer League closed out with rookie Liam McNeeley earning All-Summer League second-team honors.
Charlotte FC (MLS)
Charlotte FC returned from its World Cup break with a 2-2 draw against Atlanta United on July 22, and the club just landed a marquee addition: French forward Allan Saint-Maximin signed a three-year Designated Player contract, per Charlotte Football Club. The Crown sit at 22 points (6-4-6), clinging to the Eastern Conference playoff line, and travel to face the New York Red Bulls tonight at 6:30 p.m. ET, per Yahoo Sports. Uptown, meanwhile, is buzzing with the free MLS All-Star Fan Fest at Romare Bearden Park through Sunday.
Queen City Watch: All eyes turn to Wednesday, when Bank of America Stadium hosts the MLS All-Star Game and Charlotte becomes the epicenter of the soccer world for a night.
